Nicknamed the Gialloblu, meaning Yellowblue and corresponding to the colours of the teams shirts, Parma were formed in 1913 as Verdi FC. A long history of mediocrity was ended when highly-rated coach Nevio Scala, helped by finance from dairy company Parmalat, guided the club to Italy's top division, Serie A, in 1990. Home games are played at the Ennio Tardini Stadium.
